Rangers have finalised the appointment of Philippe Clement with links to Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe officially ending.
Maybe we should have expected rumours about Ryan Lowe’s future at Preston North End.
PNE have been impressive to start the season and sat top of the league before a tricky run of form.
Defeats to West Bromwich Albion, Leicester City and Ipswich Town have calmed the buzz around North End.
Still, third place at the second international break is good going for North End and Lowe found himself linked with a move away just a couple of weeks back.
Rangers officially end Ryan Lowe rumours
PNE’s fine start to the season resulted in rumours about Lowe’s future with Scottish newspaper the Daily Record reporting earlier this month that Rangers were interested.
The Gers had sacked Michael Beale and were allegedly keen on looking into potentially landing Lowe.
The rumours were fair quickly played down; Sky Sports added that Lowe was not on the Rangers shortlist, which was backed up by Heart & Hand.
In case there were any lingering fears at PNE, Rangers have now confirmed their new manager.
Belgian boss Philippe Clement has landed the Rangers job, returning to management having been sacked by Monaco at the end of last season.
A three-time title winner in Belgium, Clement arrives with a decent reputation and kills off the Lowe links once and for all.

Lowe now looking to recapture PNE form
Well, at least that’s officially out of the way.
It looked like Lowe would be staying anyway but all doubt has now been removed ahead of PNE’s return to action.
North End take on Millwall in the Championship this weekend, coming out of the international break with a lunchtime kick off.
After one point in the last four games, North End need to get back on track and can’t afford to be slow out of the traps against the Lions.
That’s what Lowe will have been thinking about in this international break rather than the Rangers job, with wins needed after a tricky patch.
