Much has been made of Blackburn Rovers taking Preston’s talents in recent times.
Last summer, North End controversially chose to release winger Tyrhys Dolan, despite him looking him a huge talent for the future.
Blackburn swooped in and took him on a free transfer, with ex-Preston defender Ryan Kidd playing a key role in the move.
Dolan has been playing in Rovers’ first team this season, and even scored against Preston at Deepdale to rub salt into a very fresh wound.
As if that wasn’t enough, Rovers also signed ex-Preston midfielder Joe Nolan, who has been excelling in their Under-23’s with four goals in 10 Premier League 2 outings.
Now, Rovers have made a direct swoop on Preston’s youth setup, as Training Ground Guru report that John Prince is leaving North End for Ewood Park.
Prince has been Lead Youth Development Phase Coach at Preston since 2017, overseeing the progress of 12 to 16-year-old’s.
Formerly of Huddersfield Town and Burnley, Prince will now become Rovers’ Senior Youth Development Phase Coach, taking up a similar role.
This is a blow for North End, and losing him so soon after seeing Dolan and Nolan’s progress at Blackburn won’t leave fans encouraged about the future of Preston’s youth setup.
