According to Football Insider, Preston are set to sack manager Alex Neil following today’s 1-0 defeat to Luton Town.
It’s claimed that Neil’s fate has been sealed after losing yet again today, with North End deciding to pull the trigger.
Exit rumours were denied after the midweek defeat at Middlesbrough, but it’s now stated that the decision has been made and Neil will be leaving imminently.

Preston have lost three games in the last week without even scoring a goal, falling to defeats to Wycombe Wanderers, Middlesbrough and now Luton.
Neil has largely done an outstanding job in charge of Preston, and we have vocally backed him many times amid rising fan pressure over the last year.
Now though, Preston are heading towards the relegation zone, and it sadly seems that enough is enough and Neil has paid the price with his job.

The report does not explain what Preston plan to do next, whether they go for a permanent manager right now or go for a caretaker until the summer.
Football Insider generally have a patchy record, but did nail much of Preston’s business in January, reporting brilliantly on deals for Ched Evans, Ben Whiteman, Sepp van den Berg and Anthony Gordon.
We therefore think this information could well be the truth, bringing a rather sad end to Neil’s time in charge of Preston, which lasted almost four years.
