Former Preston North End boss Alex Neil is seeking a return to management – and has been spotted watching Blackburn Rovers in recent weeks.
That’s according to The Sun on Sunday (19/09, p61). They claim that Neil is now actively looking for a new role after leaving PNE in March.
It’s noted that Neil has started attending games, putting his face back out there so to speak.
Neil attended Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 defeat to Middlesbrough on Wednesday. Forest then sacked Chris Hughton, but that job looks set to go to Steve Cooper.
The report adds that Neil also watched Blackburn Rovers beat Hull City 2-0 on Tuesday night.
Neil to Blackburn would be hard to watch
It doesn’t sound like anything is imminent in terms of Neil landing a job, or even a vacancy coming up at Blackburn.
Yet this has been a fear for PNE fans for a while now, that Neil would end up at Blackburn.

From a PNE perspective, fans have long felt that Tony Mowbray wasn’t quite getting the best out of the Rovers team.
With proper backing in the transfer market, you have to feel that Neil could take Rovers further than he managed to take PNE.
We loved Neil, and seeing him manage our rivals would be tough to stomach – so let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.
