Preston North End have looked to the Danish market again but an offer for Odense star Mads Frøkjær-Jensen has been rejected.
That is according to a report from Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, who report that PNE have made a move for Frøkjær-Jensen.
It’s claimed that PNE have sent an offer for the 23-year-old – but the first move hasn’t gone well.
The report claims that Odense have immediately rejected the bid and didn’t even consider entering negotiations.
However, Frøkjær-Jensen has just one year left on his Odense contract and this may be the right time to sell.
The ball is back in PNE’s court now, who must decide whether to go with a higher bid or back away.
North End need to find creativity with Daniel Johnson and Josh Onomah moving on, so Frøkjær-Jensen could be the man.
Rules on foreign players have been adjusted this summer and Championship clubs have started shopping in Europe a little more once again.
PNE could now go down the same route with Frøkjær-Jensen thought to be a key target.

Who is Preston North End target Mads Frøkjær-Jensen?
Frøkjær-Jensen was born in Hvidovre and started his career with Hvidovre IF – a club where Peter Schmeichel played on his rise to stardom.
Frøkjær-Jensen found his way to Odense in 2014 and made his way up through their ranks, making his senior debut in 2018.
Now 23, Frøkjær-Jensen has racked up 120 games for Odense, bagging 18 goals and 16 assists along the way.
Frøkjær-Jensen predominantly plays as an attacking midfielder but does sometimes feature on the left flank, drifting inside onto his left foot.

The Dane really impressed last season, recording eight goals and three assists in 29 games for Odense.
Frøkjær-Jensen earned just one Denmark Under-21 cap, featuring in a 3-1 win over Slovakia back in 2020.
Frøkjær-Jensen came on as a substitute in that game but who was leading the line in attack? None other than current PNE striker Emil Riis.
PNE may well believe that Frøkjær-Jensen and Riis can cause mayhem together in the final third but it will all come down to Odense’s asking price.
