According to the Lancashire Evening Post, Preston have received ‘a lot of interest’ in the chief scout with Joe Savage now gone.
North End confirmed on Friday that Savage would be leaving Deepdale for an exciting new challenge with another club in January.
It quickly emerged that Hearts were the club pushing to land Savage, and the Scottish club confirmed the appointment of Savage as their new sporting director on Monday.

That leaves Preston with a gap to fill, and with the January transfer window around the corner, the timing isn’t exactly ideal.
Still, it’s claimed that Preston have received plenty of interest from potential replacements, with scouts seemingly queueing up to take the job.

The report adds that the job will be for a chief scout rather than as a head of recruitment, seemingly altering the job title with Savage gone.

Peter Ridsdale will still be a key part of Preston’s recruitment, but this will now be a key appointment with North End needing a host of new faces to bolster Alex Neil’s squad.
Savage had ties to Neil from Hamilton Academical and Norwich City, so it will be interesting to see whether the new appointment also has a connection with the Preston boss, or whether North End go down a completely new route.
