Preston North End now face a battle with Swansea City for the signature of Everton striker Tom Cannon this summer.

PNE took Cannon on loan from Everton in January and the move has worked out perfectly for all.

Cannon has now racked up eight goals in 18 Championship appearances for PNE, becoming a firm fan favourite.

North End will naturally want the 20-year-old back on loan again for next season.

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

That may well hinge on Everton’s Premier League fate – and rival interest from Championship clubs.

The Sun’s Alan Nixon reports that Swansea City have joined the race and want to take Cannon on loan next season.

It’s stated that Swansea have made contact with Everton and were even asking about a deal before Cannon faced the Swans in midweek.

Cannon found the net yet again as PNE lost 4-2 in South Wales.

Russell Martin is seemingly convinced by Cannon and wants to snap him up this summer – and a permanent move isn’t ruled out if Swansea sell Joel Piroe.

PNE face deja vu over Tom Cannon

It all feels a little familiar, doesn’t it?

PNE took Cameron Archer on loan in January of 2022, giving the Aston Villa talent a great platform on which to shine.

Archer did just that, finding the net regularly with PNE before heading back to Villa.

North End were desperate to get Archer back on loan, as you would expect them to be with Cannon too.

A summer move wasn’t possible and PNE were then pipped to a January loan move by Middlesbrough.

PNE would hate to go through it all over again with Cannon but Swansea’s interest now leaves North End at risk of missing out on the Everton talent.

We just have to hope that Cannon wants to stay around the North West and work with Ryan Lowe for another year after so much success of late.
