According to The Irish Independent, Preston made an offer to take Tottenham Hotspur striker Troy Parrott on loan – but he has chosen Millwall.

It’s claimed that Preston offered take the Spurs talent for the season, in the hope of bolstering Alex Neil’s strikeforce.

Parrott turned down Preston though, and Bournemouth, Celtic, Stoke City and Swansea City also received the same response.

Parrott has instead chosen a move to Millwall, joining Gary Rowett’s side having struck up ‘an instant chemistry’ with the Lions boss.

The 18-year-old will no doubt have fancied staying in London too, rather than heading up to Lancashire for the next year.

Parrott would have at least found Irish international teammates Alan Browne and Seani Maguire at Deepdale, which could have been appealing.

A lack of goals up top means that Parrott likely would have played regular first-team football for North End too, but Preston’s efforts have fallen short.

A season-long deal for Parrott would have been sensible, bringing in a dangerous striker without having to cough up much money, but Millwall have swooped in and got their man.
