As the dust settles on a hectic 24 hours for Preston North End, fans are beginning to look forward to a game for the first time in a while!

Preston will welcome struggling Barnsley to Deepdale on Saturday in what will be Ryan Lowe’s first game in charge of the club.

It’s a game we should be looking to win regardless of the situation but the new manager’s first words as boss show he is ready to hit the ground running.

“We want to excite these fans and get them back through the turnstiles. We want an exciting brand of football,” said Lowe.

That will be music to Preston fan’s ears but perhaps what is most interesting is Lowe’s immediate call to cancel the team’s scheduled day off on Wednesday.

“They were due to be off tomorrow, but now they’re in. We’ll start our preparation for Barnsley tomorrow afternoon.”

Great words to hear from Lowe. He wants to start off with a bang and there’s no point wasting any time on that. I doubt the players will mind either as they will be eager to impress the new manager.

It’s early days but the encouraging words from Lowe are already more upbeat than McAvoy’s usual tone.

It’s the simple things that can make the fans feel a lot more positive about the club. I’m sure that will be shown with a decent attendance on Saturday.
