We’ve all been dealing with the Daniel Johnson rumours over the last 48 hours – and there’s now another exit rumour to worry about.

Rangers are keen to take Johnson to Ibrox in a £2million move, with Steven Gerrard’s men hoping for a bargain deal given that he is out of contract next summer.

Johnson missed Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Swansea City and looks set to leave, and another play out of contract next summer is being linked away.

The Sunday Mirror (13/09, p63) report that Bournemouth have made a £5million bid for centre back Ben Davies.

The report claims that Preston have rejected the bid as they want £10million, double what the Cherries have put on the table.

We did hear from one source on Friday that Bournemouth had offered £3million, with Preston standing firm whatever the opening bid was worth.

Bournemouth sold Nathan Ake to Manchester City over the summer, so they need a left-footed centre back – and having raked in around £80million for Ake, Aaron Ramsdale and Callum Wilson, they have money to spend.

This will be a real fear for Preston, as Davies is another player who can leave for absolutely nothing come the end of the season.

After a summer of inactivity, Preston really can’t afford to start losing key players towards the end of the window, and there could be some troubling weeks ahead at Deepdale.
