On Monday, we covered the news that Preston have taken Cork City talent Joe O’Brien-Whitmarsh on trial ahead of a possible move.
It now seems that O’Brien-Whitmarsh isn’t alone in making the trip over to Deepdale, as another Cork talent has been working in front of North End coaches.
Integral Sports Management have tweeted photos of O’Brien-Whitmarsh at West Ham United and teammate Liam Murray in Preston gear, noting that he was on trial with North End this weekend.
Both players are represented by Integral Sports Management, and we could soon see the duo sign for Preston in the near future.
Murray is a midfielder, and has long been tipped for a bright future having turned out for Ireland’s Under-15’s and won awards in Cork.
The Southern Star claimed that Murray was attracting major interest from English club at the age of just 14, and Charlton Athletic had an early look at him.
Murray can only move when he turns 16 in July, but Preston may now be positioning themselves to leapfrog the competition and get a deal done.
Preston have had strong links with Cork for many years now, and having seen Alan Browne become North End captain having arrived from Cork as a kid in 2014, who could blame either Murray or O’Brien-Whiteside for fancying a move to Deepdale themselves?
