Preston’s 3-1 win at Millwall on Saturday brought up eight games unbeaten – and also Tom Barkhuizen’s 100th game for the club.
North End raced into a 3-0 lead inside half an hour, as Andrew Hughes, Tom Clarke and Sean Maguire all scored. Ben Thompson pulled one back for Millwall, but North End held out to claim all three points.
It’s now five wins and three draws in the last eight, with Alex Neil putting together an impressive unbeaten run. Saturday also saw winger Barkhuizen rack up a 100th appearance for North End, just over two years since his arrival.
For a bargain signing from Morecambe, Barkhuizen has been an outstanding addition for North End. With 22 goals and 11 assists, Barkhuizen has basically been involved in a goal every third game since his move.

Barkhuizen took to Twitter on Saturday evening to celebrate hitting that milestone, made all the sweeter by a fine win. The 25-year-old also noted that he loves playing for Preston, and hopes for more games like yesterday in the future.
That last comment appears to hint that Barkhuizen does want to stay at Deepdale, amid rising concerns about his contract situation. His current deal expires at the end of next season, meaning we’re hurtling towards the final year of his contract.
North End need to try and get that situation sorted quickly, ensuring that Barkhuizen’s future at Deepdale is secured. Any interested clubs will be well aware of the situation, so it’s imperative that Preston sort this before the summer transfer window.
