Report: David Moyes now wants to sign former Preston star Ben Davies for West Ham United

Ex-Preston defender Ben Davies could end up playing under a former North End manager in David Moyes at West Ham United.

The 26-year-old came through Preston’s ranks before being sold to Liverpool in January 2021.

After almost 150 games for North End, few could begrudge him the move to Anfield.

Davies struggled for playing time there though, and is currently on loan at Sheffield United but may not stay at Bramall Lane long-term.

The Sun’s Alan Nixon now claims that Moyes fancies taking Davies to West Ham in 2022.

This isn’t the first time such a rumour has emerged, as The Mirror reported that Moyes wanted Davies in October 2020.

You can actually see why this move would make sense for Davies and West Ham.

West Ham have just lost defender Angelo Ogbonna for the rest of the season and will need another defender.

Davies can fill in there, and he is left-footed just like Ogbonna, bringing balance to Moyes’ defence.

Moyes keeps a close eye on Preston and will have been well aware of Davies for some time.

North End fans love seeing Moyes succeed away from Deepdale, and Davies joining him in East London would be great to see from a Preston perspective.
