Aston Villa want Luis Suarez in a move that may just give Preston hope of bringing Cameron Archer back to the club this summer.
Archer joined Preston on loan in January with Villa keen for him to go out and play regular first-team football.
The striker became a fan favourite at North End, scoring seven goals in 20 outings for Preston.
The most notable was the winner against bitter rivals Blackpool but Archer was a major threat throughout his time at Preston.
The hope is that Villa will allow Archer to spend another year with Preston, but that is unclear at the moment.

Aston Villa want Luis Suarez
Villa have ambitions of their own though and that means targeting a new striker for Steven Gerrard.
Villa have been very busy so far, already signing Philippe Coutinho permanently as well as snapping up Boubacar Kamara and Diego Carlos.
The next target appears to be a huge one as The Telegraph claim that Villa want to sign Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez.
Suarez is leaving on a free transfer this summer and he of course played with Steven Gerrard at Liverpool.
Should Suarez join Villa, you would imagine that Preston’s hopes of a deal would strongly increase.
Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins are already in the Villa ranks and Keinan Davis is returning from Nottingham Forest.
Before any departures, Archer could be fifth-choice striker at Villa should Suarez join, and his chances of significant Premier League minutes would be damaged by a huge name like Suarez.
As a boyhood Liverpool fan, Preston boss Ryan Lowe would no doubt love to see Suarez, Gerrard and Coutinho back together again even if it’s away from Anfield.
The main focus for Lowe and Preston will be on Archer though, and North End will be ready to make their move for him should Suarez head to Villa Park.
