All the focus at Preston right now is on incomings – but we could see another outgoing before the end of the night.

North End have snapped up two defenders, with Liam Lindsay and Sepp van den Berg arriving on loan from Stoke City and Liverpool respectively.

Ben Davies has gone to Liverpool in the Van den Berg deal, whilst Josh Earl joined Burton Albion on loan earlier today.

Preston are now looking at Anthony Gordon from Everton as the final signing, and it looks like David Nugent could end up moving on tonight.

The Wirral Globe report that Tranmere Rovers are closing in on the loan signing of Nugent, with a deal now expected to go through.

Nugent was born in Huyton, so a move back to that neck of the woods could appeal to Nugent, who has become an outcast at Deepdale.

The 35-year-old hasn’t played at all this season having been left out of Preston’s squad, and it looked like he would see out the remainder of his contract.

Tranmere have swooped in though, giving Nugent the chance to play first-team football until the end of the season.

Nugent’s return to Preston hasn’t been the dream we all wanted, but he remains a club legend – and fans would no doubt love to see him thrive at Tranmere.
