Preston may have regrets over letting Tyrhys Dolan leave last summer, having seen the teenager thrive at Blackburn Rovers this season.
Also impressing over in East Lancashire is another former Preston talent in Josh Brownhill, who is now a key man at Burnley.
Formerly of Manchester United, the Warrington-born playmaker emerged into the Preston first team in 2013, but he failed to fulfil his potential at Deepdale.
When his contract expired in 2016, Brownhill moved on to Bristol City and has never looked back, racking up more than 150 appearances for Robins to then earn his big Premier League move to Burnley.
The 25-year-old is now a top-flight regular with the Clarets, and almost five years on from leaving Preston without much reaction, he could be a man in demand.
TEAMtalk report that West Ham United are keen on signing Brownhill, but so are Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Lancs Live add that Brownhill isn’t interested in leaving, but it’s clear that he is attracting admiring glances off the back of his Burnley displays.
There may well be some regret at Preston over Brownhill’s exit, as he is becoming the star that many thought he would; unfortunately, it’s away from Deepdale.
