Preston North End have confirmed the signing of playmaker Mads Frøkjær-Jensen on a four-year deal from Odense.
The attacking midfielder becomes PNE’s second signing of the summer, joining Liverpool loanee Calvin Ramsay at Deepdale.
This one has been rumoured for just over a week now and North End have secured their man.
PNE have confirmed that a ‘significant undisclosed fee’ has been paid to bring 23-year-old Frøkjær-Jensen to Lancashire.
It’s rare that North End dip into the European market but the deal is done and Frøkjær-Jensen is a PNE player, so here is the reaction from our writers…

Deepdale Digest writer verdict
Olly Dawes: The relaxing of rules on foreign players meant it would have been a real disappointment if PNE didn’t explore the European market this summer.
We have been desperate to see North End land some young players on long-term deals with a view to selling them for a profit down the line.
Frøkjær-Jensen fits that bill perfectly, coming in on a four-year deal at the age of 23.
We can only go off highlights and snippets of games at the moment but Frøkjær-Jensen appears to be a very creative and technically-gifted playmaker.
That’s something PNE are crying out for with Daniel Johnson and Josh Onomah moving on this summer.
Emil Riis suffered some ups and downs after arriving from Randers, so we may see similar from Frøkjær-Jensen, but this is an exciting addition to the PNE squad.

Josh McLaughlin: This is exactly the sort of signing I want us to be making.
It’s been frustrating seeing other Championship sides raid the European markets and be so successful. Zian Flemming was a great example for Millwall last season; signed from the Netherlands and scored 15 goals for them from midfield.
It’s also a signing with an eye for the future. Frøkjær-Jensen is only 23, and if he has a couple of good seasons under his belt, his value will skyrocket.
Ryan Lowe has described him as a ball carrier, which will be much needed following recent departures.
We’re desperate for more goals from midfield too with Alan Browne drying up on that front.
It will be exciting to see Frøkjær-Jensen link up with Emil Riis, and hopefully the striker can help PNE’s new man settle in.
