Preston North End have lost Calvin Ramsay and Liverpool are now planning to send the right back out on loan elsewhere for the second half of the season.
There was real excitement in the air when PNE signed Calvin Ramsay over the summer.
The Scot had shown huge potential at Aberdeen, tempting Liverpool into spending £6.5million on signing him in the summer of 2022.
Ramsay’s 2022-23 campaign was ravaged by injury, so PNE were taking something of a gamble by bringing him in and attempting to get him back up to speed.
Still, Ramsay’s attacking qualities at Aberdeen and his standing as a top young player at Liverpool left many supporters excited about his arrival.
Sadly, the move really didn’t work out as Ramsay suffered with injury, illness and a lack of minutes even when available.
After just one league start, Ramsay returned to Liverpool on Monday with the Reds calling time on his spell at Deepdale – and his return to Anfield may not last long…
Calvin Ramsay could be on the move again after PNE exit
The Athletic’s Liverpool correspondent James Pearce has taken to social media to state that Liverpool plan to loan Ramsay out elsewhere this month.
Rather than recall Ramsay to cover for injured right back Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool simply plan to send Ramsay elsewhere again.
Liverpool want Ramsay to play regularly in the second half of the season and, with little chance of that happening at PNE, Liverpool are eyeing up another loan.

Maybe Ramsay ends up in the Championship and actually plays against PNE before the end of the season; it’s certainly plausible.
Liverpool could also look to send Ramsay back to Scotland, where he showed so much quality and potential at Aberdeen.
Ramsay is bound to have suitors elsewhere and his tough spell at PNE won’t put all suitors off a January deal.
As for PNE, it sounds like Ramsay won’t be replaced, leaving Ryan Lowe to hope and pray that Brad Potts doesn’t break down under the strain of a huge workload up the right flank.
