Former Preston North End defender Matthew Olosunde is back in football after joining Welsh side The New Saints.
The 2021 summer transfer window now looks pretty disastrous for PNE.
Connor Wickham and Izzy Brown were punts which just didn’t work out as their injury nightmares continued at Deepdale.
Jamie Thomas was a non-factor and the same largely goes for winger Josh Murphy.
Arguably the biggest disappointment was Matthew Olosunde though, as he actually seemed like a decent signing.
The American had Championship experience under his belt with Rotherham United and offered an option at both right back and right wing back.
Sadly, injuries were a problem for Olosunde too and he remarkably made just three appearances for PNE before being released at the end of last season.
Matthew Olosunde finds new club
The 25-year-old spent the first half of this season without club and was even back training with Manchester United in November to keep fit.
Olosunde has found a new club now though, securing a move to Welsh side The New Saints.
TNS sit 17 points clear at the top of the JD Cymru Premier table, so Olosunde is now in line to win a league title.
Boss Craig Harrison – a former North End player himself – has now celebrated the move to sign Olosunde.
Harrison has told the TNS official website that he feels former PNE and Manchester United talent Olosunde is an ‘outstanding’ player.

Harrison praised Olosunde’s pace and athletic ability, seemingly believing that he can make a big impact in a strong TNS squad.
“I’m really pleased with the opportunity to add to what is already a very strong squad. We try to keep pushing competition for places and Matthew will be a great addition to help us do that.
“Having played lots of games in the English Championship, he’s got very good experience and arrives at Park Hall with a full international cap too. Matthew is an outstanding front-footed footballer, with great athleticism to get up and down the pitch, and possesses excellent pace for a defender.”
After a nightmare spell at PNE, we can only hope that Olosunde gets his career back on track nearly three years since his North End move.
The drop from Championship to the Welsh top flight is one that few could have predicted when Olosunde arrived but we wish him all the best and hope to see him thrive with his new move.
