Former Preston North End ace Alvaro Fernandez could be nearing a move away from Manchester United with Granada now in talks.
Fernandez joined PNE on loan in late July last year and just over a year on, he could be on the move again.
Sky Sports report that Spanish side Granada are now in talks to sign the Manchester United talent.
It’s suggested that Granada have been in ‘formal talks’ over a loan deal – and they want an option to buy included.
United have yet to accept that kind of agreement, potentially still believing that Fernandez can have a bright future at Old Trafford.
A move back to Spain may well appeal to Fernandez, who left his homeland when he swapped Real Madrid for United in 2020.
The 20-year-old now has one year of Championship experience under his belt after becoming a firm fan favourite at PNE.
Fernandez was even given chances in the United first team during pre-season with Tyrell Malacia injured and Luke Shaw given an extended break.
Another loan move may now be on the cards though with Granada looking to bolster their squad after promotion to La Liga.

PNE are still in the market for a left wing back but Fernandez doesn’t seem all that keen on a move back to Deepdale.
Fernandez does still have love for PNE though and was back to cheer North End on to a 2-1 win against Sunderland earlier this month.
Granada makes a little more sense for him as he looks to take another step forward in his development, but there is some glimmer of good news for PNE here.
Sky Sports add that Burnley have been interested in signing Fernandez too as they seek a replacement for Ian Maatsen.
Avoiding seeing Fernandez turn out for the Clarets is a small crumb of comfort for North End, as a move to Turf Moor would have stung for PNE supporters after enjoying his development so much last season.
