Preston North End allegedly held an interest in Blackburn Rovers captain Lewis Travis before seeing him sign for Ipswich Town.
We aren’t expecting too much from PNE in the January transfer window but rumours have been emerging of late.
Reports suggested that North End were showing an interest in signing Crewe Alexandra defender Connor O’Riordan.
The Ireland Under-21 international is now joining Blackburn Rovers though after his £500,000 release clause was activated.
There is now another rumour involving PNE and Rovers – but this time surrounding a player leaving Ewood Park.
PNE reportedly missed out on Lewis Travis
Ipswich Town-based website TWTD report that PNE were interested in securing the signature of Rovers midfielder Lewis Travis.
It’s suggested that both PNE and Millwall were keen on Travis but ultimately lost out to Ipswich.
The Tractor Boys have now confirmed that Travis has joined the club on loan until the end of the season.
Travis is the Rovers captain but has been in and out of the team under Jon Dahl Tomasson of late.
Now heading out on loan, Travis will be hoping to play a key role for a promotion-chasing Ipswich side.

Travis has racked up nearly 200 Championship appearance for Rovers and would have given PNE a proven, battle-hardened option in midfield.
Ali McCann has signed a new deal but has blown hot and cold of late, Ryan Ledson hasn’t particularly impressed this season and Ben Whiteman’s contract is up in the summer amid some mixed performances.
We can certainly understand the desire to land another midfielder and Travis would have fit the bill – especially as a Whiston-born midfielder in a PNE setup with a heavy Liverpudlian influence!
Travis has instead made his move to Suffolk and will be in line to face North End when Ipswich visit Deepdale on February 3rd.
