Preston and Derby reportedly both want to sign Swindon's Akin Odimayo

Another day, another name linked with a move to Preston.

James Collins, Otis Khan, Gwion Edwards and Stephen Humphrys have all been linked with North End from various outlets, even though Preston don’t actually have a manager right now.

Now, TEAMtalk report that Swindon Town defender Akin Odimayo is on Preston’s radar ahead of a potential summer move.

Preston aren’t alone though, as Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke City are also thought to be keen on signing Odimayo.

Odimayo, 21, is out of contract this summer but Swindon do have a one-year option on his contract, and look set to activate that clause before selling him on.

The defender joined Swindon on a free transfer from Reading last summer, and has shown promise at wing back and centre back.

Odimayo did spend time in the League of Ireland with Waterford last year, and North End have been known to scout over there.

Preston’s defence is likely to go through changes this summer, and taking a punt on a young defender with potential like Odimayo could make some sense, especially given his potential.
