Preston have taken Ben Woodburn on trial with the former Liverpool youngster now set to stay with North End for two weeks.
Ryan Lowe is chasing new signings having only managed to bring in Freddie Woodman from Newcastle United this summer.
Fellow goalkeeper David Cornell is likely to arrive too but Preston need signings in a host of positions.
Lowe will want attacking options and is now casting his eye over Woodburn in a potentially fascinating move.

Preston have taken Ben Woodburn on trial
The Daily Mail report that Preston have now taken Ben Woodburn on trial as pre-season training starts at Euxton today.
It’s suggested that Woodburn has agreed a two-week trial period with North End as he looks to maintain his fitness and impress Lowe.

That suggests that Woodburn will have a chance to win a permanent stay at Preston if Lowe takes a shine to him.
Lowe is a huge Liverpool fan and will no doubt be aware of the huge potential Woodburn appeared to have when he broke through with the Reds.
Woodburn came through the Liverpool ranks and became their youngest-ever goalscorer in 2016 aged just 17 years and 45 days, bagging against Leeds United in the EFL Cup.

Woodburn failed to really kick on from there though and a series of disappointing loan moves followed.
Sheffield United, Oxford United, Blackpool and Heart of Midlothian all took Woodburn on loan with limited success.
Now 22, Woodburn has been released by Liverpool this summer and many expected him to secure a permanent move to Hearts.
Instead, Woodburn now has a chance to sign for Preston and get his career back on track.
The Welsh international was mostly known as a winger but may be seen as a player who can support Daniel Johnson in a ‘wide playmaker’ role in Lowe’s 3-5-2.
We may now see Woodburn feature against Bamber Bridge this coming weekend as he looks to win a deal at Deepdale.
