Preston want to re-sign Callum Robinson from West Bromwich Albion as Ryan Lowe continues to search for a new striker.

North End are desperate for goals given that Cameron Archer’s return from Aston Villa is no sure thing.

Seani Maguire and Ched Evans haven’t scored since November and Preston can’t afford to be relying on teenager Mikey O’Neill just yet.

Finding a partner for Emil Riis has to be a priority and Preston have missed out on signing Andre Gray, who has instead joined Aris Thessaloniki in Greece.

Preston want to re-sign Callum Robinson

The Express and Star report that Preston are lining up a move to bring striker Callum Robinson back to Deepdale.

It’s stated that West Bromwich Albion would like to offload Robinson this summer and would prefer to sell him.

Robinson’s wages are a problem though and West Brom may have to settle for a loan deal, which would be just what Preston want.

Robinson still has three years left on his West Brom deal so a permanent move just doesn’t seem likely for Preston.

Even a loan would get fans excited though given Robinson’s history with North End.

The 27-year-old first joined on loan from Aston Villa back in 2014 before being recalled in November, only to then return again in January.

Robinson played a role in Preston’s promotion from League One but then joined Bristol City.

When that deal was cut short in January 2016, Preston swooped in to take Robinson on loan once again before finally signing him permanently at the end of the 2015-16 season.

Robinson became a star with North End, hitting 12 goals in 27 league games in his final season with the club before moving on to Sheffield United in 2019.

Whilst mostly known as a winger, Robinson spent time playing as a striker for Preston and playing him up front with Emil Riis may be one plan in Lowe’s mind.

We would imagine that most of the Championship would like to sign Robinson, but Preston may hope that the emotional pull of Deepdale can bring him back.
