Preston playmaker Jamie Thomas looks set to leave the club on loan, with a move to FC Halifax Town now believed to be very close.
That’s according to a report from Football Insider, who claim that Halifax have now agreed terms with Preston over a loan deal.
That deal would run until the end of the season, with Halifax hoping that the addition of Thomas will aid their promotion push.
Halifax sit second the Vanarama National League, level on points with Chesterfield at the top – and they have just suspended their manager James Rowe.
Halifax may now see this as the time to strike in the promotion race, especially with Stockport County gaining ground quickly.
Halifax take on Boreham Wood tonight, but it looks unlikely that the deal will be done in time for Thomas to play.
Thomas joined Preston over the summer after a fairytale move from Bamber Bridge.
Having scored twice in a pre-season friendly at North End’s training ground in Euxton, Thomas was given a chance against Accrington Stanley.
Thomas responded with a fine headed goal, eventually earning himself a one-year deal after impressing as a trialist.

Unfortunately for Thomas, he has yet to feature for Preston’s first team and isn’t even registered for Championship games.
After spending most of the season playing in the Central League with Preston’s reserves, Thomas can now go out and play first-team football.
Preston do have a one-year option on Thomas, meaning whilst he is out of contract this summer he could yet stay.
The 25-year-old Welshman will need to impress at Halifax to make that happen though, with this move making sense for all parties.
