Middlesbrough want Emil Riis but Preston boss Ryan Lowe is adamant that nobody is leaving North End before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Boro have brought in three strikers this summer with Marcus Forss, Matthew Hoppe and Rodrigo Muniz arriving this summer.
Yet Chris Wilder still wants another striker and he has been focusing his attention on signing North End ace Riis.
The Northern Echo reported earlier this month that Boro had held talks with Preston over a potential deal for Riis.
Danish newspaper BT then claimed on Monday that Preston had received a £7.5million bid for Riis from an unnamed English club – assumed to be Middlesbrough.
Fans have been wondering whether North End would take that kind of money, look to extract more cash from the deal or whether the bid even existed.
Preston boss Lowe has now offered his take, telling North End’s official Twitter account that there have been ‘no suitable bids’ for any Preston players and that the only exits will be youngsters heading out for first-team action.
Lowe then added that Riis is unequivocally staying at Deepdale, stating that he has spoken to the Dane and he won’t be leaving inside the next 48 hours.
It’s great to have this situation resolved once and for all, and Preston fans now seemingly don’t have to worry about Riis leaving before Thursday’s deadline.

The challenge for Lowe and Riis is now to rediscover last season’s form.
Riis hit 20 goals in all competitions last season but has been slow out of the traps this term, and has been on the bench for Preston’s last four Championship games.
North End have only scored once in the Championship this term and Lowe needs a firing Riis to really challenge for the top six this season.
The pair will now seemingly be working together for the foreseeable future and Lowe must focus on getting the best out of his most dangerous attacker moving forward.
