Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson is open to a January loan move amid links with a switch to Preston North End.
It’s hardly a secret that PNE are in the market for a new striker come the January transfer window.
Ryan Lowe wanted to bring in two new strikers during the summer window but could only land one in Troy Parrott.
Ched Evans has been chipping in with goals of late but Lowe needs another striker even when Parrott returns from injury.
North End could even end up adding a striker with some similarities to Parrott.
Young, Irish, highly touted a Premier League club – you can see how Parrott and Brighton talent Ferguson can be viewed as being similar.
The Daily Mail reported earlier this month that PNE are interested in taking Ferguson on loan from Brighton.
Birmingham City, Bristol City, Ipswich Town, Millwall, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Wigan Athletic are also keen on Ferguson according to this report.
Ferguson, 18, joined Brighton from Bohemians in 2021 and appears to have a very bright future.
Ferguson has bagged five goals in six Premier League 2 games this season whilst he even bagged a goal and an assist in his one EFL Cup appearance this term.
A loan move to the Championship may now make sense for the teenager as he chases first-team exposure.

PNE have already shown their suitability for this situation having taken the likes of Lukas Nmecha, Cameron Archer and Parrott on loan in recent years.
Ferguson has now told The Irish Independent that he is open to the idea of heading out on loan.
The Irishman wants a chat with Brighton to see what their plans are, but he isn’t ruling out the prospect of a January switch – which may be of interest to PNE.
“I think it (a loan) would benefit anyone, it’s just whether the timing is right. Maybe,” said Ferguson.
“I’ll have to chat with the club and see what they want to do. That’s what loans are there for, to go out and get experience. If it’s the right thing for me at this moment, then we’ll have a look at it,” he added.
