Carlisle United have added another former Preston North End favourite with striker Joe Garner joining the club on an 18-month deal.
Ex-PNE boss Paul Simpson is going to have plenty of support from North End fans.
Simpson may not have worked out as PNE boss when he replaced Billy Davies in 2006 but we can accept that he is one of the nicest people in the game.
Simpson then went and signed Paul Huntington on a free transfer with the PNE hero making an emotional move to his hometown club.
There is now another North End favourite at Brunton Park.
Carlisle have today confirmed the signing of striker Joe Garner until the end of the 2023-24 season.
Garner made his name with Carlisle back in the 2007-08 season, scoring 14 goals to earn a big move to Nottingham Forest.
Now 34, Garner is heading back to Cumbria to try and help Carlisle win promotion to League One.
We could sit here and talk all day about Garner’s time at PNE.
Garner’s two full League One campaigns with North End were simply incredible, smashing 51 goals in 89 games.

We can talk about the sublime; Garner scored arguably the greatest goal Deepdale will ever see with a stunning volley against Rotherham United.
We can talk about the ridiculous too. Many will recall when Garner should have been sent off at Port Vale, Neil Kilkenny was sent off instead in a case of mistaken identity and Garner went on to score twice in a 2-0 win.
Port Vale fans absolutely hated Garner… in fact, most of League One did. A wind-up merchant and a lethal goalscorer, Garner was a hero for North End fans and did it all as a boyhood PNE fan.
North End sold Garner to Rangers in 2016 and he has since turned out for the likes of Ipswich Town, Wigan Athletic, APOEL Nicosia and Fleetwood Town.
Now back with Carlisle, it would be great to see Garner and Huntington win another promotion together having taken North End up in 2015.
