Rangers have decided to cut ties with winger Brandon Barker, cancelling the former Preston loanee’s winger late on deadline day.
The Gers made headlines by capturing Aaron Ramsey on deadline day as Barker’s departure was barely noticed.
Rangers released a very short statement confirming that Barker’s contract had been terminated. Barker’s deal was set end this summer anyway.
By releasing Barker before the deadline, the winger is now able to move on as a free agent outside of the transfer window.
Hibernian are keen on re-signing Barker on a free transfer, and that move could take place in the coming days.
Preston fans will remember Barker having spent the 2018-19 season on loan at North End from Manchester City.
Barker was brought in loan as competition for Tom Barkhuizen, Callum Robinson and Billy Bodin down the flanks.
A stunning solo goal away at Elland Road gave Preston fans hope of Barker becoming a star at Deepdale, but it just never happened.

Inconsistent end product and a battle with injuries meant Barker was never really able to nail down a regular role at Preston.
When his loan deal ended, Preston chose not to go back in for Barker and he made his move to Rangers.
Barker only ever managed 16 league appearances for Rangers and spent the second half of last season on loan at Oxford United.
Now 25, Barker needs to settle down and play regular first-team football, which may well come after this Rangers exit.
