Report: Ryan Lowe wants to sign Plymouth Argyle's Ryan Hardie for Preston

Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe wants to reunite with Plymouth Argyle striker Ryan Hardie during the January transfer window.

Football League World report that Lowe has set his sights on a reunion with Hardie just weeks after leaving Argyle.

Lowe left Plymouth for Preston in December, replacing Frankie McAvoy as North End boss.

Some have wondered whether Lowe will raid Plymouth. New Argyle boss Steven Schumacher has laid down the gauntlet, stating Lowe will not receive preferential treatment.

Still, it’s suggested that Lowe now wants to take Hardie to Preston having managed him down at Home Park.

Hardie, 24, came through the Rangers ranks before leaving for Preston’s bitter rivals Blackpool in 2019.

After just seven league games, Blackpool allowed Hardie to join Plymouth on loan – and he hasn’t looked back since.

Hardie spent a year on loan at Plymouth before joining permanently for a nominal fee. His full record for Plymouth now stands at 25 goals and 10 assists.

Tall, quick and rangy, Hardie fits a similar kind of mould to Emil Riis but could end up partnering the Dane at Preston.

Plymouth likely won’t want to sell to Lowe, but the chance to reunite with the Liverpudlian at Deepdale could be very appealing to Hardie.
