Preston’s hopes of signing Ryan Longman may be coming to an end with Hull City now chasing a permanent deal for the Brighton loanee.
Earlier in the January window, The72 reported that Preston were in the race to sign Longman in a cash deal this month.
North End were seemingly impressed with Longman’s progress at Hull and were keen to bring him to Deepdale.
Since then though, Hull have been taken over by Turkish media mogul Acun Ilicali and are spending in the transfer market.
Hull have already snapped up Preston-linked midfielder Regan Slater, and could now do a permanent deal on deadline day for Longman.
The Athletic claim that Hull are in talks with Brighton over a permanent deal for Longman before tonight’s transfer deadline.
Longman excelled in an attacking role on loan at AFC Wimbledon last season but has been converted to play at wing back this season.

Preston’s two wing back areas have been a struggle this season, and you get the feeling that Ryan Lowe’s long-time wing backs aren’t currently at the club.
Longman, 21, could have been a fine option for North End after three goals and four assists in 19 Championship games.
Yet with Hull’s new financial backing, it looks like the Tigers will now manage to sign Longman permanently and kill off any Preston hopes.
