Preston boss Ryan Lowe has indicated that North End are looking at a number of players across Europe ahead of the summer transfer window.

Lowe faces a huge summer transfer window – possibly one of the biggest in the club’s recent history.

Three of Preston’s best players – Daniel Iversen, Sepp van den Berg and Cameron Archer – are all on loan are unlikely to return next season.

A host of players are out of contract and look set to leave, including Joe Rafferty, Paul Huntington, Izzy Brown, Tom Barkhuizen and Scott Sinclair.

Preston are facing up to a mass exodus this summer and a limited budget to build a squad in Lowe’s image.

Just how on earth Preston will bring in the number of players needed with such a limited budget remains to be seen.

North End are at least taking a progressive step by partnering up with analytics and recruitment company MRKT Insights.

This is the same company Plymouth Argyle used during Lowe’s time at Home Park, so the Preston boss is familiar with their work.

Lowe spoke about the decision with Lancs Live and dropped an interesting nugget about Preston’s recruitment plans for the summer.

Lowe indicated that Preston have been watching players from all across Europe and have various players on their radar ahead of potential deals.

That’s hugely encouraging for North End fans, who have been crying out for Preston to utilise the European market more regularly.

Before Emil Riis joined from Randers in 2020, the last player Preston signed directly from a non-UK or Irish club was Keammar Daley way back in 2011.

North End have been limiting themselves in the transfer market for too long, and hopefully Lowe’s input – alongside that of MRKT Insights – can help drive Preston on to new heights.
