Preston are eyeing Tottenham’s Dane Scarlett as they seek a replacement for Aston Villa loanee Cameron Archer up front.
North End took Archer on loan from Villa in January and he became an almost instant fan favourite.
From the debut goal at West Brom to the winner against Blackpool, Archer made sure that he was one of the most memorable six-month loan signings in Preston history.
Preston would love to have Archer back for another year but that decision will be up to Villa boss Steven Gerrard.
It would now be wise for Preston to eye up other Premier League loanees to take Archer’s spot – and Tottenham talent Scarlett is wanted.

Tottenham striker Scarlett signed a new contract earlier this week and there are really high hopes for him in North London.
Antonio Conte has called Scarlett a ‘great talent’ and there are dreams that he can follow Harry Kane’s path to stardom.
The 18-year-old has already played 10 times for Tottenham’s first team and has bagged 10 goals in 10 England Under-19 games.

Scarlett is a little behind Archer in terms of age and development but this could be a great replacement.
Scarlett is quick, can play on the should of the last man and has shown an ability to be a penalty box poacher – attributes you would also associate with Archer.
It’s now over to Tottenham to consider what they want for Scarlett.
They have loaned out two strikers of late in Kion Etete and Troy Parrott, who could both head out on loan again next season.
That could impact Preston’s chances of signing Scarlett, but with Tottenham expected to sign an attacker this summer, a loan to North End could be perfect for the teenager’s progress – just as it has been for Archer.
