We knew this month would be full of contract speculation surrounding Preston players, and the picture is starting to become a little clearer.

Alan Browne has signed a new contract until 2024, but Ben Pearson has made it clear that his future lies away from North End.

That’s two of ‘the big four’ somewhat sorted in terms of their intentions, but questions linger over Ben Davies and Daniel Johnson.

Both players started in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Bristol City, giving fans hope that the duo will end up signing new deals and staying at Preston.

Now though, Football Insider claim that Rangers have offered centre back Davies a ‘significant’ deal to move to Ibrox.

Celtic also want to sign Davies, but Rangers are allegedly making their move to sign Davies to a pre-contract agreement.

That would see Davies join Rangers for free in the summer, though would also leave the Gers in a strong position to engineer a cut-price deal this month.

Steven Gerrard does like to have a left-footed centre back, hence his 2019 signing of Filip Helander, so Davies could fit in alongside Connor Goldson.

If Preston are to lose Davies, they would likely rather sell him now than lose him for nothing, and this Rangers development will leave North End fearing a pre-contract exit.
