Preston talent Lewis Leigh has yet to make a league appearance for the club, but he is already wanted by a host of Premier League clubs – including Arsenal.

That’s according to Football.London, who claim that Leigh is attracting massive interest at the age of just 17.

It’s claimed that Arsenal want to sign Leigh, whilst Everton, Leicester City and West Ham United are also interested.

The report notes that Leigh is expected to sign a new deal with just one year left on his scholarship, but Preston may soon face a fight to keep hold of the 17-year-old.

Leigh, who was released by Liverpool at a young age, was picked up by Preston and has been rising through the ranks.

Alex Neil named Leigh on the Preston bench for the trip to Millwall back in March, and he has now been given the number 17 shirt under Frankie McAvoy.

That suggests Leigh could play a first-team role this season, and Preston will be looking for him to really break through and compete with Ryan Ledson and Ben Whiteman in midfield.

Premier League interest at this age is a major sign of the quality and potential Leigh holds, and this comes just months after interest from the Premier League’s elite in right back Josh Seary.

North End’s young players are attracting attention, and let’s hope we see them thrive at Deepdale rather than leave early for the Premier League.
