According to Football Insider, Bournemouth want to pull off a late window double swoop for Ben Davies and Ben Pearson.

The Cherries did offer £3million for Davies over the summer, viewing him as the perfect replacement for Nathan Ake as a left-sided centre back.

Preston rejected that bid as it fell well short of the asking price, but he has yet to sign a new contract with the club, meaning he could move on for free this summer.

Celtic have actually held pre-contract talks with both Davies and Pearson in the hope of signing them for free, but they are in turmoil and could now be hijacked.

It’s unclear just how much Preston would want for Davies and Pearson, but Bournemouth may sense a bargain given that both players can walk away very soon.

Losing the pair would be a blow anyway, but seeing them join a Championship rival would be very hard to take – especially with Bournemouth far from guaranteed to win promotion.

Pearson is currently being left out of the Preston side due to his desire to leave, though Davies is still being picked.

It’s hard to see either player changing their minds about renewing their contracts, buy selling them now may be better than losing them for nothing to Celtic.
