According to Sky Sports, Celtic are close to securing the signing of Preston defender Ben Davies.
It’s stated that talks over a pre-contract agreement are now at an advanced stage having progressed well.
Davies is inside the final six months of his deal at Preston, meaning he can sign a deal to join a non-English club for free.

It now looks like Davies has picked Celtic as his next club, having communicated to North End that he wouldn’t be signing a new deal.
This situation may not be done yet though, as Celtic’s agreement would possibly put Preston under pressure to sell before next week’s transfer deadline.

North End would know that Davies will be leaving for nothing, so having the chance to bring in even a small fee could be appealing.

Still, Davies has been outstanding of late and has shown no signs of being distracted by the talk surrounding his future, so Preston may prefer to just keep him until the end of the season.
With Celtic also pursuing a pre-contract deal for Ben Pearson, we could end up seeing arguably Preston’s best two players heading to Parkhead for next season and beyond.
