According to the Daily Mail, Preston are interested in signing Fleetwood Town striker Ched Evans in the January transfer window.
Fleetwood boss Joey Barton has suggested that Evans won’t play for the League One side again, with disciplinary issues the big problem.
Barton has allegedly taken offence to a joke Evans made in the dressing room, which was the final straw as Fleetwood now look to sell.

It’s stated that North End are one of a number of clubs pursuing Evans, which seems the like the most bizarre of bizarre rumours.
Evans’ record at Fleetwood isn’t all that bad, with 37 goals and 13 assists in 99 appearances, but he ticks virtually none of the boxes Preston would be seeking.
MORE PRESTON STORIES
The Welshman turns 32 today, meaning he is nowhere near Preston’s usual age profile, and the suggestions of him being a dressing room nuisance don’t really mesh with Preston’s tight-knit group.

We also can’t exactly overlook Evans’ history; his complicated past makes him a divisive figure and a potentially unpopular signing, and his baggage would be hard to overlook.
Both on and off the pitch, a move for Evans just doesn’t add up for Preston, and certainly shouldn’t be a priority come January.
