According to Sky Sports, Sheffield United want to sign Preston North End defender Ben Davies in the January transfer window.
The Blades were linked with a summer move for Davies, but no deal materialised despite him entering the final year of his contract.
With Jack O’Connell now out of action, Chris Wilder wants a left-footed centre back to bolster his defensive options for the second half of the season.
Preston may be tempted to sell rather than lose Davies for nothing next summer, but Lancs Live’s update paints a less-encouraging picture for United.

They claim that Preston have had no contact from the Blades yet, and don’t believe that he’s interested in making a move to Bramall Lane.

Celtic have been strongly linked with Davies, and they can strike a pre-contract agreement with the defender from January 1st if they so wish.
That could well be why Davies isn’t keen on a move to South Yorkshire, but Preston may still be hopeful of tying him down to a new contract.
The 25-yer-old has been superb in recent weeks, bringing great balance to the Preston back four. Premier League interest wouldn’t be a huge shock, but it seems a move to Sheffield Wednesday may not be happening.
