Over the summer, Preston attempted to raid Wigan Athletic following their financial demise – but ultimately came up empty.
North End boss Alex Neil has long been a fan of Kieffer Moore, but missed out on him to Cardiff City, whilst Jamal Lowe picked Swansea City instead of Preston.
Preston also had a bid of £500,000 accepted for Josh Windass according to Wigan Today, but he decided to join Sheffield Wednesday instead after a strong loan spell with the Owls.

Windass ended up getting sent off at Deepdale earlier this season for an ugly challenge on Joe Rafferty, but it looks like he may be heading to the Premier League.
The Mirror (05/01, p47) report that West Bromwich Albion are attempting to seal a £400,000 move to sign Windass in january.

Sam Allardyce allegedly wants to bring Windass to The Hawthorns, for £100,000 less than the bid Preston had accepted over the summer.

Wednesday have their own financial issues, and may look to cash in on the former Rangers winger this month if an offer comes in.
The 26-year-old had notched three goals and one assist in 20 Championship games this season, but has seemingly done enough to impress Allardyce.
Earning a Premier League move just months after Preston missed out may sting for North End, and it just goes to show what an addition he could have been.
