According to Football Insider, Preston are now on the verge of signing defender Matthew Olosunde after a ‘breakthrough’ in talks.

North End have brought in one new face this summer with playmaker Izzy Brown signing on a free transfer from Chelsea.

He’s one of three signings though, with Liam Lindsay and Sepp van den Berg returning after loan spells last season.

Adding a new right back has been a top priority for Preston this summer, having sold Darnell Fisher in January and failed to truly replace him.

Matthew Olosunde has been the main name in the mix for Preston, and it’s now claimed that his move to Deepdale is on the verge of completion.

Football Insider claim that Preston have reached a breakthrough in talks and an agreement has now been reached with Olosunde.

The 23-year-old has rejected a new deal at Rotherham United and is now heading for Lancashire, possibly becoming Preston’s new first-choice right back.

Formerly of Manchester United, Olosunde has one cap for the United States at international level and still has plenty of potential.

With his contract at Rotherham up, this looks like a bargain addition for Preston, and one with real upside for the future.
