According to the Lancashire Evening Post, Preston are prioritising a right-sided centre back and a creative midfielder in the January transfer window.
It’s claimed that North End are looking to freshen up the squad in January, and may look to offload some fringe players in January.
Patrick Bauer’s season-ending injury means he can be de-registered from the squad, freeing up a spot for a replacement centre back.

Others could go, with the likes of Billy Bodin, David Nugent and Louis Moult among those who may need loan or permanent moves.
Paul Huntington and Jordan Storey have both played in that right-sided centre back role, but haven’t nailed down the position; a loan signing until the summer could make some sense.
MORE PRESTON STORIES
As for a creative midfielder, Preston already have a host of central options, with Josh Harrop and Tom Bayliss struggling for starts.

Still, with Daniel Johnson’s contract winding down, North End may want to add their creative force of the future during this transfer window, with free agent Jack Byrne linked.
We would suggest a right back, right winger and another striker being on the wish list too, though January is a notoriously difficult window.
Preston need more signings though, as just two additions came in during 2020, which simply isn’t enough for Alex Neil to take this team forward.
