According to The Sun on Sunday (25/10, p61), Preston North End defender Ben Davies wants to move to Germany at the end of the season.
It’s claimed that Preston fended off interest from Celtic over the summer by slapping a £10million asking price on Davies’s head, but they remain keen on a pre-contract agreement to sign him for free.
However, Davies allegedly won’t be extending his deal at Deepdale regardless, and Bundesliga sides Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke both want to sign him.
Davies is thought to be keen on a move to Germany, and both clubs can discuss pre-contract agreements with the centre back from January 1st.

The 25-year-old was almost a forgotten figure when Alex Neil became Preston boss in 2017, but he has become a key part of the North End back line.

Formerly a left back, Davies has transitioned into a centre back role beautifully, showing off his technical ability alongside his pace and reading of the game.
Few could really begrudge Davies if he landed a move to Leverkusen, as Peter Bosz’s side are a strong and competitive side both in the Bundesliga and in the Europa League.
Celtic may still be lurking around, especially with Neil Lennon’s side struggling at the moment, but Davies seemingly has Germany on his mind – and that may leave Preston in a tricky spot come January, if these reports are true.
