According to The Sun on Sunday (03/01, p57), Preston are interested in taking Manchester City defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis on loan.

It’s claimed that North End are interested in luring the youngster to Deepdale for the rest of the season, but face competition for his signature.

Bristol City are keen too, whilst local rivals Blackburn Rovers are also in the race having previously taken fellow defender Tosin Adarabioyo on loan from City.

A deal would only happen late in the window as City consider Eric Garcia’s future, but a move to Preston would make some sense.

Preston are seeking a right-footed centre back to fill in for the injured Patrick Bauer, who is out for the rest of the season with an Achilles tear.

Taking Harwood-Bellis on loan until Bauer’s return could be ideal, and North End have history with City having taken Brandon Barker and Lukas Nmecha on loan in 2018.

Harwood-Bellis, 18, has come up through the City ranks, and has made six first-team appearances for the Premier League giants under Pep Guardiola.

He needs more regular playing time though, and it seems that Preston are willing to offer that – but will have to beat Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers to make a deal happen.
