According to Hull Live, Sheffield United midfielder Regan Slater wants to join Hull City despite interest from Preston North End.
Yorkshire Live reported over the weekend that Preston want to sign Slater this summer having been impressed with his displays on loan at Hull, who will be playing in the Championship next term.
However, it’s now stated that Slater wants to go back to Hull and the Tigers want a deal after his ‘terrific’ performances in the second half of the season.
Preston do still have hope; Sheffield United are activating a one-year clause in Slater’s deal, meaning they have to negotiate a deal.
North End may still be able to agree a fee with the Blades and bring Slater to Deepdale, but this report suggests his preference is Hull.
Slater, 21, made 27 league appearances as Hull won promotion, picking up a goal and an assist whilst become a fan favourite with his all-action displays in midfield.
One interesting note is that Slater is represented by Pitch International Representation, who also manage Ryan Ledson and Mathew Hudson – two current Preston players.
North End have had plenty of dealings with Slater’s agents, and may hope to use that to their advantage with Hull seemingly favourites to sign Slater at the moment.
