Sheffield Wednesday are now considering a deal for Josh Onomah after the midfielder left Preston North End.
Onomah joined PNE on deadline day back in January as his Fulham contract was ripped up.
The former Tottenham Hotspur talent wasn’t particularly match fit when he joined PNE after spending the first half of the season as a fringe player at Fulham.
We saw glimpses of Onomah’s quality as he turned in strong performances against Queens Park Rangers and Reading over Easter.
PNE fans didn’t really see much of Onomah as he started just four games before his contract ran out.
North End faced a decision – try to keep Onomah and hope that he would find fitness and consistency next season, or let him go.
In the end, PNE ran out of patience and ended up moving on despite confirming that Onomah had accepted a contract offer.
The deal broke down and, more than a month on, Onomah still doesn’t have a new club.
Onomah did join up with Stoke City as a trialist last week as he seeks to impress Alex Neil.
Another Championship club are now involved though as the Sheffield Star claim that Sheffield Wednesday are considering a move for Onomah.

The Owls took Onomah on loan from Tottenham back in 2018 and he played 15 times during his time at Hillsborough.
Wednesday have appointed a new manager in Xisco Munoz and now seemingly fancy bringing Onomah back to South Yorkshire.
Wednesday need reinforcements in order to boost their hopes of staying in the Championship, but they may now have to take on Stoke for Onomah.
There is surely no route back to PNE for Onomah now, following the signings of Mads Frøkjær-Jensen and Duane Holmes.
North End have moved on but may well end up facing Onomah in the Championship this coming season.
