According to Sky Sports (14:05), Exeter City talent Randell Williams is closing in on a move to the Championship – and Preston North End could be his destination.
It’s claimed that Williams is nearing a move to a Championship side, having starred for Exeter in their run to the League Two playoff final last season.
The report states that Preston want Williams, along with Barnsley and Stoke City, meaning North End could well land the 23-year-old.

SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP
Williams has history with Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace and Watford, but only got his big break when he joined Exeter in January 2019.
He has been a star ever since; in 37 League Two games last season, he racked up five goals and a staggering 14 assists, drawing interest off the back of his superb displays.

Williams possesses blistering pace, and whilst he normally plays as a right-sided wing back, he’s actually left-footed, which could lend itself to great versatility.
Williams would offer North End the flexibility to play a three-man back line by operating as a natural wing back, but he is also quick and skilful enough to play as an out-and-out winger, with his history at wing back lending itself to the defensive work Alex Neil likes his wingers to do.

Add in that Preston aren’t blessed with many left-footed players, and Williams could be welcome addition whilst bringing some more pace to North End’s attack.
One factor that could help North End here is that the club seem to have decent links at Exeter. Jordan Storey and Jayden Stockley both joined Preston from the Grecians under Neil, whilst manager Matt Taylor hails from nearby Chorley.
Williams ticks a number of boxes for Preston, and with North End still able to bring in players domestically, a deal for Williams is possible right now – though the caveat we must add is that three clubs being linked at once usually smacks of an agent attempting to get his client out in the media.
