Preston North End are reportedly closing in on the signing of Basel forward Liam Millar ahead of transfer deadline day.
That is according to a report from Basel-based newspaper Basler Zeitung (3:04pm), who claim that negotiations for Liam Millar to join PNE are now advanced.
It’s stated that Millar wants to return to England ‘for family reasons’ having left Liverpool for Basel in 2021.
The report adds that a loan with option to buy is now on the cards for Millar with PNE closing in.
Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Millar was linked with PNE on Wednesday as Football Insider suggested interest from Ryan Lowe.
Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United and Blackburn Rovers were also mentioned as being interested, so we wondered if this was mostly agent-led.

However, the media in Switzerland appear convinced that Millar is nearing a move to Deepdale ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
Where could Liam Millar feature for Preston North End?
Millar, 23, came up in the Liverpool ranks having joined from Fulham back in 2016.
A Canadian international with 21 caps to his name, Millar left the Reds for Basel in a £1.3million deal back in 2021.
One of the big selling points with Millar is that he has outstanding versatility.
Millar mostly lined up as a left winger for Basel last season but did line up as a left back in one game against Servette.
Maybe Lowe believes that Millar, whilst predominantly being an attacking player, can cover at left wing back if needed.

Millar also featured on the right flank at times for Basel and has bagged 13 goals as well as 10 assists in 98 games.
Going back to Millar’s time at Liverpool, he did feature as a striker and scored 11 goals in 18 games as a forward for their Under-18’s.
Millar has shown his versatility for Canada too, featuring as a right back and as a central midfielder on occasion.
We could see Millar join Mads Frøkjær-Jensen in working off Will Keane, or maybe even pushed up top alongside Keane with Frøkjær-Jensen in behind.
Millar gives PNE pace and tactical flexibility and would represent a very interesting addition if this deal does materialise.
