Preston North End’s weekend opponents Millwall have decided to part company with Gary Rowett just days ahead of their trip to Deepdale.
The international break is coming to an end and that means Championship football is just a few days away.
PNE get the Saturday schedule started with a 12:30pm kick-off against Millwall, live on Sky Sports.
North End went into the international break with three straight defeats, falling against West Bromwich Albion, Leicester City and Ipswich Town.
After such a strong start to the season, PNE will be desperate to get back on track – and will now avoid a meeting with an old nemesis.
Millwall part company with boss Gary Rowett
Millwall have stunned many by announcing the departure of boss Gary Rowett this (Wednesday) evening.
The Lions have confirmed that Rowett has left the club by mutual consent just days ahead of facing PNE.
Former Southend United defender Adam Barrett will take charge against North End this weekend, stepping up as caretaker boss.
The decision to part ways with Rowett maybe isn’t a huge shock; pressure has been mounting with Millwall winning just four of their first 11 games.
The timing is surprising though as Millwall have had all of the international break to make a change but have now done it just days ahead of heading to Lancashire.

PNE avoid another Rowett clash
North End fans have been sick to the back teeth of Rowett in recent years and may be somewhat pleased to see him go.
Rowett has managed 13 times against PNE over the years, across spells with Birmingham City, Derby County, Stoke City and Millwall.
PNE have never even won a single game against a Rowett team; he has won seven times and drawn six times.
I certainly dread facing Rowett and whilst Millwall are still a major threat this weekend, we’re just happy to not be facing the ‘bogey manager’ again.
