Preston North End fans are hoping that winger Liam Millar will stick around at Deepdale as his loan spell comes towards its end.
North End fans went into last summer desperate to see more pace and flair injected into the side.
PNE duly obliged and pounced to sign winger Millar on loan from Basel on deadline day.
The Canadian winger has brought a real injection of quality down the left flank, even when playing as a wing back.
Millar has added five goals and five assists to his name this season and has captured the hearts of PNE fans.
They say ‘don’t fall in love with a loan player’ and here we are again, hoping and praying that Millar will stay put.
Millar faces an intriguing summer as he will no doubt have plenty of interest having dazzled on loan at PNE.
The former Liverpool talent may also have one eye on his international situation though, with a big name in the running to take over as Canada boss…

Premier League legend could coach Liam Millar
Canada are currently managed by Mauro Biello, but only on a caretaker basis following John Herdman’s exit.
Millar was called up by Biello for the March internationals but didn’t make an appearance.
Canada’s search for a permanent manager is ongoing and The Telegraph report that they are now keen on Frank Lampard.
It’s stated that Canada want talks with Lampard as they look to appoint the Chelsea legend.
Lampard has been out of management since leaving Chelsea at the end of last season but it remains to be seen whether he can be tempted into international management.
Canada have Copa America to look forward to this summer and will be co-hosting the 2026 World Cup.
Millar figures to be a part of Canada’s plans moving forward and Lampard may be the man to lead him and his teammates in the near future.
Millar in difficult spot with Canada
Whilst a key man for PNE, Millar hasn’t nailed down a similar role with Canada yet.
The problem isn’t so much that Millar hasn’t played well enough, but more that he faces unbelievable competition.
Millar could be considered for a wing back role but Canada already have Alphonso Davies there, with the Bayern Munich star one of their top players.
Maybe Millar could operate further forward, but Canada often play with two strikers in Cyle Larin and Jonathan David – two goalscorers in Spain and France respectively.
It’s incredibly difficult for Millar to nail down a role in the Canada starting XI but he will hope for better fortunes under his next manager – which could well be a legend in Lampard.
